The Parish Council comprises seven councilors and the Parish Clerk who  administers the Council's affairs.

Meetings of the Parish Council, which are open to the public, are held once a month in the Council Chamber at the Village Hall .

Details of all forthcoming meetings and business can be seen displayed on the Parish notice boards.

The Parish Council acts on behalf of the Parish  in drawing matters of local concern to the relevant authorities and pushing for action.

It also provides public seats, planting areas, litter bins, village hall and playing fields.

However, the main activity of the Town Council is to help to keep the Town a happy, secure and pleasant place for both residents and visitors.

Some of the responsibilities of the Parish Council are listed above. If you have a problem that is not in the area of responsibility of the Parish Council they will be able to refer you to the correct authority or take up the problem for you.

When are the Parish Council Offices open to the Public?

The Parish council do not have offices. Enquiries should be made to the Clerk in writing, by E mail or telephone

 

What happened at the last election ?

The last election was due to be held on 5 May 2011.

As there were not enough candidates the election was not contested and the candidates were all elected

To fill vacancies By elections can be held or residents may be co-opted

 

When is the next Parish Council Elections Scheduled?

The next election for  Parish Councils will be held on 7 May 2015.

Do my councilors get paid?

Councillors are not paid for their duties as Parish Councillors.

They are required to declare any income or employment, details of any Directorships, any interest in land and any contracts between themselves/their firms and the Council.

A register of these items are held by Maldon District Council which can be viewed by the public at the council offices .
