What do Ofsted say about this School?

On 10 July 2007 a statutory Instrument was approved by the DCSF that Southminster Primary and Southminster Infants School should be recognised as a school having a religious character. Although the buildings, staff etc remained in effect the school became a new school and as such Ofsted offer no record of the schools performance. This is for administrative purpose and as such there is no negative inference to be drawn about the school.

Where does this school stand in the performance tables?

The DCSF ( Department for Children, schools and families) maintains performance tables for each primary and secondary school.

To view the performance of this school follow the below steps

  1. Visit the DCSF site at  http://www.dcsf.gov.uk/
  2. Select school performance tables from the box on the right
  3. Select 2007 primary school ( key stage 2) or the year that you wish to view
  4. In the search box enter the school postcode CM0 7ES to be taken to the school results
  5. To compare the results with other school  take the same first two steps above but in the search box choose Essex in the LA box
  6. This brings up a menu of all  Essex schools results that allows comparison

to visit the DCSF site as at step 1 above

Due to the change of status granted in 2007 users may wish to access old records. To do so please click on the following link

Does the Ofsted and DCSF reports give me an accurate picture of this school?

Most educational observers accept that the above reviews reflect some of the activity at schools but by their nature are best at capturing measurable qualities such as examination results and attendance levels but much less accurate in measuring other inputs to the children on issues such as confidence building, personal relationships, common sense, awareness of issues and development of intelligence that are also important in a child's education. For this reason this web site STRONGLY recommends that parents who are using this site as part of their process in deciding which school is best for their children or any other user who is considering the relative merits of local schools should make a personal visit to the school  and talk to the staff and parents of children at the school to gain a fuller picture to add to the reports by Ofsted and DCSF.

Are comments on the school welcome?

Comments and information on the schools from pupils, parents, staff ad governors are welcome.

A separate page called school talk created for comments/information for this school exists by clicking the link below.
