From their base at Station Road, Burnham on Crouch , Essex Police Marine Unit covers the whole of the Essex Coastline.
Staff include one Sergeant , eight Constables, five Reserve Crew, Two PCSO's and three Civilian Staff.
The responsibilities include dealing with marine related crime, counter terrorism , marine accident prevention and investigation, drugs interception, marine wildlife crime, escorting vulnerable marine targets and marine security
Marine watch is co-ordinated from the Marine Unit base.
The Unit use 24 ft ribs capable of speeds of up to 70 mph and Patrol Boats including Alert VI , Vigilant 111 and Watchful
