As you would expect from an area which has been populated since prehistoric times many people can trace their ancestry to this area..

Some family names like the Blundens and the Richmonds have lived in the area for many generations although from e mails I know that people have spread throughout the world.

To help people trace their ancestors I have gathered some information together about Burnham on Crouch and the surrounding area.

The information has been personally transcribed from records which are often in poor condition or from war memorials which in some cases have become discoloured. Thus I cannot guarantee total accuracy over spellings, initials etc.

Although I have been able to help a few people with information am not able to offer a research service into local roots.

Some information is held at Burnham and Southminster library although more extensive information is available at Chelmsford Library and very detailed information at Essex Records Office, Chelmsford. Individual research is offered by the society of genealogists or by staff at the Essex records Office. Costs vary depending on the skill of the researcher but are normally between £15 and £20 per hour.

Our Sister site www.burnham.org.uk hosts the genealogy pages. Click on the link will take you to their genealogy index for the pages shown alongside.
