Two Fire Stations operated by Essex  County Fire and Rescue Service serve the Dengie Hundred - Tillingham and Burnham on Crouch

Both are manned by retained firefighters.

Tillingham Fire Station

Burnham Fire Station has two fire tenders while Tillingham has one.

These fire-fighters are on-call firemen who have alternative incomes and respond to fire calls.

Retained fire-fighters must live or work within 5 minutes of Burnham Fire Station and be able to attend regular training sessions.

Open Day

Burnham and Tillingham fire stations have an annual Open Day in the summer when the equipment is on display to the public. This event is VERY popular with the local children.

Other than by letter, no facilities exist to deal with members of the public at Burnham or Tillingham  Fire Station.
