St Cedd and his followers landed at Bradwell on Sea in AD 654 and founded a religious settlement on coast at Bradwell.
Amazingly after over 1350 years the central part of the building created by St Cedd still remains.
A recent poll by the BBC religious affairs found that St Peters was voted as the 9th most favourite spiritual place in the whole UK.

As one of the places regarded as holy by Christians in the UK many people visit St Peters each year as a personal pilgrimage that helps them to feel closer to God. The quiet serenity of St Peter's certainly gives an unrivalled mental feeling and brings clarity of mind to problems.
On the first Saturday in July each year an annual pilgrimage involving over 1,000 people takes place from the village of Bradwell on Sea for the 2 miles of the old roman road to St Peters Chapel .For those people unable to walk the route, transport is available for the whole or part of the way.
At St Peters a service with an address by a prominent Christian is held along with many other festivities to help celebrate the arrival of Christianity to our shores.
